The IWS R-DWC (Recirculating - Deep Water Culture) is the next level system from IWS's original DWC systems. The R-DWC system gives your plants a constant flow (undercurrent) of perfectly mixed, high oxygen nutrient. The resulting plant growth will then have all of the benefits of a standard DWC system, but with the additional benefits of a continuous, perfectly mixed nutrient and stable pH level as found in recirculating systems such as NFT. You can expect an abundance of growth, faster nutrient uptake, and thick, healthy root masses leading to large yields! The nutrient is added to the main tank, making topping up a quick and easy process.
Deep water culture (DWC) is a popular growing technique where roots are suspended in net pots over heavily oxygenated nutrient solution in what is commonly referred to as 'bubbler'. Using deep water culture as a growing method has a long list of benefits, including rapid growth rates and increased yields. R-DWC takes the principle of DWC and improves on it by creating a current that runs through each container, maximising oxygen levels while keeping nutrients evenly mixed. Nutrients can still be drawn back to the reservoir tank in order to make adjustments.
There are several benefits of connecting the pots into a system and occasionally returning the solution back to the main tank via timed settings with the IWS Timer unit. Firstly it means that the EC and pH of the nutrient solution can be centrally adjusted and topped up with fresh water. Also when the solution is pumped back to the tank it is mixed with any remaining solution, cooling it down before pumping it back to the pots. We recommend that you drain and fill the system 3 times per day to gain its full potential.

Water temperature - To maintain the temperature of the nutrient solution the IWS R-DWC system controller pot can be connected to a Boyu nutrient chiller. The ideal temperature is from 18-21oC. *We cannot over-stress how much adding a nutrient chiller to an R-DWC growing system makes. The difference in overall growth, health and yield ability is more than impressive. To us at Somerset Hydroponics, a nutrient chiller is almost compulsory if you want to achieve maximum output...seriously, the yield increase is staggering!!
**As this growing system utilises external plumbing/tubing supply, we recommend lining the floor with protective, waterproof Floor Secure sheeting to avoid any leakage issues should they occur.
