Installing a water feature using the Finia 650 or Finia 1000 pebble pool/reservoir

When selecting your desired location for your water feature, consider the surroundings and make sure the feature is suitably sheltered if required. Also consider the backdrop; do you need space behind the feature to put plants etc?

Adding low voltage lights can also produce a spectacular effect at night, and may need consideration regarding placement of your water feature.

Step 1

STEP1

Make sure the hole dug for your Finia container is level and at the right depth as this will save time when putting the Finia in and out of the hole during construction.

Step 2

STEP2

If the total weight of the feature exceeds 150kg, think about soil structure, will it subside over time? If you think it will then add a suitable concrete base, this will save you having to re-level at a future date.

Step 3

STEP3

After smoothing out the concrete put the Finia into the hole to make sure it is level before the cement sets.

Step 4

STEP4

After the concrete has set, back fill around the Finia base with soil. If the feature is over 250kg soil can be pushed into the ‘fins’ for additional support. For heavier features contact us regarding Finia Concrete Moulds for concreting fins.

Step 5

STEP5

The Finia fins for additional support being made of 100% recycled MDPE are flexible and can be lifted to gain access to the pump for maintenance.

Step 6

STEP6

When the lid is in place your chosen feature can be assembled on top. After positioning your chosen water feature turn on the pump and check the height of the water, if it is too high the water will splash outside the Finia and the pump will run dry quickly.

Make sure all electrical cables are adequately protected, connections are water proof and the whole electrical installation is safe. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. Plant around the back of the feature and add decorative stones to hide the remainder of the Finia and complete any other paving or decorative ground work.

Installing a water feature pond

Repeat the general consideration and construction steps as above for the Finia reservoir.
